Response to Michelle Morley’s “21st Century Classroom”

Michelle highlighted a lot of key technological resources within her presentation this evening. I liked that she did her presentation from Adobe Meeting Place. I think this would be a great resource to use when trying to get guest speakers into the classroom. I also liked the idea of creating a professional identity for myself on something like Twitter, a blog or a wiki. As well, I liked the concept of students being able to create their own blogs. Google Apps is also something I am very interested in incorporating into my classroom. There are so many different aspects that would wonderful to use in the classroom, such as Google Docs or Google Calendar.  Michelle also opened my eyes to a lot of programs I had never heard like Jing and Glogster. One thing I wish she could have touched on a bit more was technology for students in Special Education settings. Being a Special Education minor I would love to learn about the different forms of technology that I would be able to use in this area.

Peer Article Response #1 October 20, 2012

The first article I chose to respond to was Sylvan’s article, “SMART Boards Rock!”. The article talks about how useful SMART boards can be as an instructional tool. I decided to pull out different words from the article and create a word cloud using Wordle. I feel as though the words I chose to construct my word cloud summarize what SMART Boards are capable of and what they mean for our students.

This video was posted on YouTube recently and I feel it has a great message and would be a great tool to use in the classroom when teaching students about bullying.
